earching for a Better Quality of Life?

We Found It Here Completely by Accident

People come to Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach and Yulee, Florida, for a myriad of reasons, but they stay for the people. You won’t find a friendlier bunch of folks. They have a way of making strangers into friends and newcomers into welcome members of the community.

I can say this with certainty because I’ve been both a stranger and a newcomer here. You see, my wife, Sara, and I are natives of Wisconsin. And although we love our home state, we’d had our fill of shoveling snow. So we searched the Internet for our ideal relocation spot in the south.

This may be what you’re doing right now. If so, you’ll appreciate our story. I have relatives in Fernandina Beach FL Georgia and Florida, and online Sara and I found a number of places near them that sounded interesting. Armed with our list, we spent the next several weeks visiting Alabama and Georgia and then drove down to Florida. We went to all the towns we’d selected online. But to our dismay, we discovered everything that glitters on the Internet is not gold. Nothing was as it had appeared. Even the attraction of family nearby didn’t lessen our disappointment.

Road weary and disheartened, we turned back to Wisconsin. Then, on I-95 we saw the sign. “Fernandina Beach 10 Miles.” I glanced at Sara. “Let’s take a look. At least there will be a beach.”

Ten miles later, we drove into town. Three days later, we bought our home.

Fernandina Beach turned out to be exactly what we wanted. It’s a quaint seaport village with historic downtown buildings.
