Relocation
Continued from home page.
Fernandina Beach turned out to be exactly what we wanted. It’s a quaint seaport village with historic downtown buildings. And there’s a little winding road that goes through downtown all the way to the marina where the great shops and
restaurants are ... and where the shrimp boats and yachts are moored.
Because we were in the midst of adopting our son and daughter from Guatemala, we had to delay our move. But for the next four years Fernandina Beach was our second home. We came for extended stays four or five times a year. And once the adoptions were complete, we hired movers and headed south to stay.
Sara and I have said many times that our coming here was a quality-of-life choice—not only for the climate, the beautiful setting, the ocean and all that goes with it ... but also for the inviting community and friendly people who go out of their way to help newcomers feel at home and welcome.
